We have to be assertive is our decision making in our life and of course be smart at it. I wrote about goal setting before, and you have a read here, 7 EASY STEPS TO SET YOUR GOALS. Let me add an extension to that. Be very aware that you have 24 hours in a day to deliver your goal.I know some goal is very big which require a small increment of goal daily to make it happen. There is a very high possibility that you will not have enough time to achieve your goal if you say yes to everything.

Now, here is the punchline. If it is not related to your goal, you have the right to say No. Be very aware that by saying yes, you are actually compromising your goal. By saying yes, you are actually achieving other people goal. By saying yes, you are actually deviating your plan of action. By saying yes, you are actually letting other people control your life. Guess what, you are accountable for your goal.  No one will be accountable for it.

Believe me, it will be hard. I have that struggle too. It is about being selective and making the informed decision. Saying no is all about filtering out the non-essentials so that you have more time and energy to focus on the important stuff that matters. Especially, your goal.  It is a skill that needs to be built over time. This enables you to excel and be the best at what you are doing.  It can relieve you from unnecessary pressure and load off. Most importantly, you will be in control of your life.

Let us look at one example, let’s talk about fitness. You want to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. You know the plan of action is to eat the right food, drink the right beverage, exercise and of course enough sleep. But, your friends ask you out for a drink in a club. Yes, I am talking about alcohol. Then, you arrived home at 2am and not getting enough sleep. Now, if you say yes to your friend you are no longer in control. You are compromising your goal to be healthy. You are achieving your friend`s goal, not yours. Is it your friend fault? Or your fault? So who will bear the consequence? You or your friend? Is it you buddy. 

So be bold to say NO to the things that is not related to your goal. Be in control of your life to achieve success. If the action does help you to achieve your goal, then you can go for it.
